Biography

Xu Xiaodi graduated in Hispanic Philology from Zhejiang International Studies University and has two Master’s degrees, one in Hispanic Philology from Shanghai International Studies University and another in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Salamanca. She is currently working on a doctoral thesis on Jerónimo Roman’s “Republic of the Kingdom of China”, included by the author in the second edition of his treatise Repúblicas del Mundo (1595). Her thesis explores the ethnographic and ideological dimension of the section on China, examining it in the light of the rest of the treatise and the missionary literature of the time.
