Biography
Rubén Bracero Salvat read Hispanic Studies at Universitat de Barcelona. He holds a Master of Studies in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, specialising in Spanish and Portuguese. His MSt’s dissertation looked at the performativity of Iberian villancicos de negros, and was awarded the prize for the best dissertation in the sub-Faculty of Portuguese at Oxford. His doctoral thesis studies the circulation of villancicos de negros across the Iberian world and explores how their representations and performances contributed to race-making processes in early modern Iberian literature.
