Biography
Pablo Montosa holds a PhD in Philosophy and, since 2024, has been Associate Professor of Renaissance Philosophy at the Universitat de Barcelona. He has published studies on thinkers from the 15th to the 17th century, including Giordano Bruno, Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus, and Baruch Spinoza. His doctoral dissertation (2025), supervised by Miguel Á. Granada and Isabel Méndez, examined the paradigm shift in the concept of custom from Averroes and Maimonides to its modern reception, highlighting its influence on figures such as Galileo and Spinoza.
He completed his predoctoral training with a research stay at the Università degli Studi di Macerata under the supervision of Filippo Mignini. Since 2023, he has been a member of the research group GIDC Periodeia: Scenarios and Texts of Philosophy, directed by Isabel Méndez. His main research interests focus on the history of philosophy and science in the Renaissance and early modern period, with particular attention to reading and writing practices shaped by censorship and religious controversy, as well as to the emerging theories of the passions.
He is currently preparing the Spanish edition and translation of 120 articuli adversus Peripateticos (1586) and Acrotismus camoeracensis (1588) by Giordano Bruno, to be published by Tecnos.
