Mónica Bernal Bejalde

Biography

Mónica Bernal Bejalde holds a degree in Hispanic Language and Literature from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is a lecturer and associate researcher in the Department of Philosophy at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unidad Iztapalapa (UAM-I) in Mexico, where she has been head of the research area in Literary Semiology and coordinator of the degree in Hispanic Literature. Her main lines of research are the theory and practice of the didactics of literature and writing, as well as the history of literary ideas of the Spanish Renaissance. She is currently working on a doctoral thesis on Neoplatonism in sixteenth-century Hispanic lyric poetry.
